CRYSTAL MEDITATION

Close your eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Continue breathing, deeply, slowly, always taking a full breath and always letting it out in a controlled rhythm, slow and steady.

Picture a forest. You are in the middle of a grove of trees. The sunlight is dappled on the forest floor but even as you watch, the light fades and the forest is dark. You gradually become conscious of an illumination that surrounds you. The trees all glow with a strange light and as you look more closely at them, you realize that they are all formed from crystals. You can see through them. You can see the light that shines inside of each one of them. You turn to look at all of them; each is a different color. Breathe in. Breathe out.

As you turn back to your original position, you are suddenly aware that you are also one of these crystal trees. Within your mind, see yourself as a crystal tree. Your crystal roots are deep within the earth, piercing down to the very core of the Mother. Your crystal branches reach up, high into the sky, stretching out to the Universe, touching the Father.

Picture yourself in whatever color resonates for you. Fiery red, bright orange, vivid yellow or deepest pine green. Maybe you’re ice blue, twilight indigo or darkest purple. You may shine as a vibrant rose pink, glitter as an azure wave or shimmer in lime green. Whatever color you are, you send out an aura of this color and your light combines with all the other crystal trees to make the purest white light that shines like a beacon in the ink black of the night.

Breathe in. Breathe out. You begin to look inside of yourself to see where this light comes from and you realize that there is a fire burning deep within. You can see that it is a deep blue flame, burning on a wick that is connected to the physical world while the flame burns bright, up to the spiritual realm. This is the flame of your spirit and your will; it is fed, shaped and moved by the breath of the Divine.

You can feel the intimate interaction between the body and the spirit, your will as the wick working with the Divine’s will as the wind to create this flame, this active flow of energy which is both generated and released through the process of burning. The potential for flame is always within you, is always within each and every living being. There is no need to “work up energy” or “ground the excess” as the flame leaps as high as is needed, when it is needed.

Breathe in. Breathe out. You can feel the warmth of the flame, can see the glow it makes. You feel alive, rejuvenated, full of energy, full of potential. The flame is the Divine spark of your being and is the truest representation of who you are. It is the immortal part that continues on even when your physical body is gone, the eternal YOU.

Look around you and this time, you can see the flame that is inside of each tree that surrounds you. Breathe in. Breathe out. You are surrounded by sacredness, by the Divine—but not only surrounded by it, you are part of it. There is no way to tell where you end and the next crystal begins. Only the different colors can illuminate each crystal tree…separate but still each one part of the forest. You look around again to see the forest and as you watch, the sun rises and dapples the ground once more. Breathe in. Breathe out. Open your eyes.
