Being Pagan in the Modern World 

(A worksheet to inspire conversation and dialogue)

  1. When did you first realize that you were a Pagan?
  2. Does your family know that you are a Pagan?  And what do they think or do about it?
  3. Have you ever attended a Christian service as a Pagan?  How did you feel?
  4. Do you hide your religion at work?  At school?  From close loved ones?
  5. How does this make you feel?  And how do you handle those feelings?
  6. Out in public, and you hear or see something that is not true about Paganism.  What do you do?
  7. Do you have signs of your beliefs that are visible to the eye?  Why?  How do you deal with questions about them?  How much do you explain?
  8. With Samhain as our next Sabbat, discuss the feelings you have at this time when you are out at the mall and see all the Halloween stuff.
  9. How do you explain Pagan holidays to people who ask?
  10. Do you observe Christian holidays with your family?  Do they make an effort to include the concepts of the related Pagan Sabbat within the celebration?  How do you feel about that?
  11. Do you end up having two celebrations?  What feelings does this make within you?
  12. Is your significant other also a Pagan?  If not, how do you manage a spiritual life within the relationship?  If yes, do you share spirituality in your daily lives?  How?
  13. Do you have children that you are raising as Pagan, or who have made that choice for themselves? 
  14. How does this affect them at school?  What sort of limits does this put on their spiritual life?
  15. Pagans in the military.  Discuss.
  16. How do you feel when a news article talks about someone being a Pagan when in fact they are a Satanist?
  17. How do you connect to Nature when you live in the suburbs (or even an urban area)?
  18. Do you have an altar?  How do you maintain it in your house?
  19. Pagan sites on the Internet.  Discuss.
  20. What are the similarities in your beliefs as a Pagan that you also held when you were Christian?  (If this applies) 
  21. If you were Christian, was it a big step away from those beliefs to become Pagan?  If so, was there a specific event that triggered your turning away from Christianity?
