Pagan Discovery/Discussion

PDD 2008

An ongoing study of the book:
the art of ritual
Creating and Performing Ceremonies for Growth and Change
by Renee Beck & Sydney Barbara Metrick (Celestial Arts)

Please be aware that this book is much, much more than a template or framework for creating rituals.  It explores ritual in great depth: why we have ritual, how we have ritual, what we can do to improve the rituals we do hold...it is also an ongoing exploration of your life, learning who you are and identifying your rituals with the aim of helping you take the awareness of the sacred in ritual to an awareness of the sacred in your daily life.  You do not have to attend each session to gain knowledge and self learning...so please attend as you are able.

Topic Index

This is an ongoing meeting which is part class, part workshop, part discussion, meeting from 2 to 4 pm on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Location varies, so contact the Circle for the next meeting's site.

If transportation is a problem, let us know and we will work out some arrangement. The only real limitation is that we currently do not have child care; if you have young children and need to bring them, just let us know so that if we are meeting somewhere that really cannot handle them we can let you know.  This will let you decide if you need to make alternate childcare arrangements or perhaps forego that particular gathering.  Otherwise, bring'em along--we'd only ask that you bring age-appropriate distractions (toys, books, handheld electronic games) so that they are not bored (and therefore a nuisance) during discussions.

Teenagers are also welcome, but under the age of 16 need parental permission to attend to satisfy legalities about "corrupting a minor". We will work with you on a case-by-case basis if parental permission is not forthcoming.  Again, communicate your need to us and we will do what we can.

We welcome anyone at any point of any Pagan path. We have seekers, not even sure that they are Pagan.  We have neophytes who want to learn what it means to be a Pagan and we have practicing, experienced Pagans who want to extend their knowledge and share it with others. We are a group of solitaries who have formed a cohesive Pagan community in the Manassas/Centreville area.  We are a circle and we continue to combine our resources and knowledge, maintaining our network and generally sharing the journey with each other.

We don't profess to have all the answers, but we will explore the questions with you and perhaps find them together. Sometimes, the questions are more important.

Please join us as you are able. We look forward to seeing you!

UPCOMING TOPICS:

Letting Go of Anger
The Celestine Prophecy (the movie and the book)
